A man who spiked treats with tranquilliser and distributed them to minors at a summer camp in Leicestershire has confessed to sexual offences against two boys aged nine and ten years old.
The accused was detained after eight youngsters and an older person became sick at the location in July.
The senior citizen, from Ruddington in Nottinghamshire, pleaded guilty to a series of 17 offences when he stood at the judicial center on Friday.
However, he disputed one particular crime he was accused of, which was against a nine-year-old child.
The defendant was held in detention prior to a subsequent court date on November 28th.
'Sweet game'
The prosecutor, prosecuting, described the defendant's actions to the court.
She stated his victims were children from difficult backgrounds who were participating in a summer camp which he ran.
Ruben conducted a "treat game" with the children, the legal counsel explained, in which he would enter the sleeping quarters when they were settling down and ask them to eat sweets "as quickly as they can".
She told the court Ruben had conducted this practice with the young males "for many years", and youngsters had earlier experienced illness the next day.
She stated the defendant had been successful in rationalizing this repeatedly as the children being "overstimulated by activities", until his stepson had concerns in recently.
The prosecutor continued: "This year his family member had worries about the situation, for good reason.
"They resolved" to have a look in the man's possessions."
The prosecutor stated items including baby oil, Vaseline and syringes were discovered, and his stepchild alerted the authorities about his worries.
She stated the defendant continued to play the "candy game" with six boys that night - Saturday 26 July - and they were everyone unwell the following morning.
"Authorities" had not arrived by that point," she stated further.
The regulatory agency, the Independent Office for Police Conduct, earlier informed that it was reviewing the police response of the situation.
The prosecutor stated the children were unable to walk properly due to being ill, so Ruben's stepson notified the police once more.
She stated Ruben then played the "candy game" in a room of five children.
