Area Law Enforcement
Around 50 vehicles have been covered with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.
Vehicles, building surfaces and mailboxes were defaced, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they stated in a release.
Officers state they were notified late on Wednesday night, when a man discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored fluid.
The substance had been applied in the pattern of a swastika, they stated.
Law enforcement then located numerous other vandalized cars and house walls in the nearby vicinity.
These symbols are banned in Germany under legislation outlawing the public display of Nazi-era symbols.
Police say preliminary tests indicate the substance was likely blood from a person.
"There is still no clue as to its source; officials are currently not aware of any physical harm in relation with the incident," they stated.
Local authorities stated they were trying "to resolve the mystery" and have requested to the community for details.
A senior representative commented the vandalism made him without words and required to be solved quickly.
"This incident hits the center of Hanau and reopens the wounds of the extremist violent incident in 2020," he stated on social media, referring to the murder of nine people by a gunman aiming at individuals of immigrant origin in 2020.
